Life is beautiful: UMBC community pays tribute to Jamie C. Heard

Last week, the UMBC community gathered in the RAC Arena for a vigil in honor of the late Jamie C. Heard, who passed away last Sunday. The vigil was organized by students, with the help of several different departments including the Meyerhoff Scholarship Program, the Office of Residential Life, and the Office of Student Life.The people gathered wore white t-shirts to celebrate the life of Jamie. As Jamie and #146;s family members, UMBC students, faculty, and staff entered the RAC, they were handed colorful ribbons to represent the different kinds of fruits that Jamie was fond of: Apples, oranges, and bananas.
