Concerns of lackluster support from the Alumni Association have stirred rumors of disengagement between former students and the current ones. UMBC's Alumni Association having just been established in 1970, leaves much room for growth and progress for a school less than a century old. With a fairly young alumni base, UMBC has a harder time soliciting monetary contributions from graduates than most older universities.
